Detroit Travel Guide

A few weekends ago, my roommate Hannah took me to Detroit! I’ve only been there for concerts, so I’ve never really gotten a chance to see the actual city. It’s pretty safe to say I’ve fallen in love.

We were really only in the city for about 5 hours, but we got around to so many interesting places. I had such a hard time narrowing down photos!

Anyways, if you’re ever in the Detroit area and are looking for some ideas on things to do, definitely check these out!

Eastern Market

The Detroit Eastern Market is a year-round farmer’s market that takes place on Saturday mornings. According to Hannah and her mom, the market wasn’t even in full swing yet, but I loved it! I picked up these little plants for my dorm room, which I actually included in my January Favorites post. We explored around for a while, and I’m already looking forward to coming back in the summer to see the market in its prime!

Germack Coffee Roasting Co.

Yep- definitely adding this to my mental “Favorite Coffee Shops” list. This was the only Lavender Latte I’ve ever tried, and, I can say with all honesty, it’s also the best Lavender Latte I’ve ever tried.

Once we were warmed up, we explored around some of the shops in the area! They’re all on the same block, and we both scored some really great vintage-y finds. More importantly, though, I fell in  l o v e  with all of the street art. It was seriously everywhere! I could probably spend a whole weekend just checking it all out.

John K. King Used & Rare Books

If you’re a book lover…make your way over here fast! Seriously. It was three+ stories of book HEAVEN. Even with it being so huge, it still felt cozy and personal.

…Unfortunately, it’s also closing down soon 🙁 But I still had to include it on the list! If you happen to be in Detroit before it happens, the trip is so worth it.

Belle Isle Conservatory and Aquarium

This was a perfect way to end our time in Detroit. There was actually a wedding going on in the conservatory at the time! It was so perfect. Future wedding clients…hint, hint.

It was so nice to see some green while everything was so gray outside! I’m already planning on allll the photos I can take in here next time I come back.

P.S. Keep an eye out for a post on our day in Royal Oak! I had to split up our weekend into two posts…SO MANY PHOTOS. Also, if you just can’t get enough, Han made her own post over on her newly launched website! Check it out 🙂

xoxo
